This 2-day workshop seeked to enhance the Cyber resilience and incident response capabilities of regulators and financial entities to mitigate exposure to Cyber risks. It included an overview of the Cyber risk landscape in financial markets; key components to promote sound Cyber practices, Cyber threat intelligence and decision making, regulatory approaches to Cyber risk management and supervision of Cyber risks.

Following from the success of last year’s joint Conference on Harnessing Islamic Finance for a Green Future, this year’s Conference held on 29-30 April in Kuala Lumpur, themed Islamic Finance: A Catalyst for Financial Inclusion discussed the use of Islamic finance instruments to support financial inclusion, including the use of fintech to boost shared prosperity.

This 1.5-day workshop organised by the IOSCO Asia Pacific Hub will discuss latest developments and regulatory implications of crypto-assets and blockchain in securities markets.

This 2-day Workshop will provide participants with a better understanding of the principles behind behavioural economics and the latest developments and applications in global financial markets.It will also look to complement IOSCO and OECD/INFE’s joint report on behavioural insights published earlier this year, and will review how behavioural sciences can be further integrated into the context of regulatory work. Focus will also be given to the development of financial literacy initiatives on areas such as crypto-assets and ICOs.

Global markets are faced with one of the most threatening risks to date – climate change, with a vast majority of jurisdictions reviewing efforts to adapt and mitigate climate-related risks. Within the Asia Pacific, as the region continues to experience rapid growth and development, corporates across many sectors will need to re-evaluate how businesses are being impacted by the effects of climate change including risks, opportunities and long-term strategies. At the same time, in order to facilitate informed decision making for investors across companies and industries, greater understanding is needed to enhance the quality, transparency and relevance of climate-related financial disclosures. It is also imperative to assess the impact of these developments on the financial and capital market sector.

The IOSCO Asia Pacific Hub hosted the IOSCO Assessment Committee’s Capacity Building for Self-Assessments Workshop. The aim of the 3-day Workshop is to assist IOSCO members to better understand and use the IOSCO Methodology for Assessing Implementation of the IOSCO Principles of Securities Regulation. The Workshop entailed training to identify gaps in regulation, procedures and processes, and to foster the implementation of IOSCO Principles and Standards.

The IOSCO Asia Pacific Hub conducted a Workshop on Leveraging Behavioural Economics for Investor Education and Investor Protection. The Workshop reviewed the approaches adopted by regulators globally on the application of behavioural insights to investor programs and initiatives.
